Here's an anecdote from a notary

I can cook spaghetti in 9 minutes but I can't analyse a file.

It's very difficult to resist the "headlong rush" for the go-getters or the ❤️.

Friday, 6.43pm.

I take a call, salivating over the pizza party that awaits me with the Girls after 1 hard week.

"Good morning, Master,

We found an apartment, I had forgotten to notify you in the excitement.

You will receive the file for validation.

We sign tomorrow at 9:00 AM at the agency."

Business hates waiting.

It puts the counsel under pressure, a tension builds up in my mind.

"Good morning, Madam,

Brilliant!

I will stay at the office until 11:00 PM to wait for the documents, then I will return to the office Saturday at 6:30 AM to follow up from 7:00 AM if I haven't received anything, read 450 pages and send an email with my observations before the 9:00 AM appointment."

What kind of father would I be if I responded like that?

What kind of notary would I be if I ignored my client's enthusiasm?

Persuasion is part of the counsel.

Convincing the client of their value, of their superior interest to wait (reasonably).

Taking a step back brings numerous benefits:

💪 Renegotiate with more strength if there is an issue, rather than at the last minute with their moving truck on the sidewalk.

💥 Drop the project quickly if there's a minefield and not after losing 3 months having everything organized...

🙏 Simply move forward serenely

Yummy!

I'm going to eat spaghetti this noon, or pizza.

This post is interesting because it illustrates the complete misalignment

between the needs of the client and those of the notary.

Worse still, it's the basis of a relationship that sends out the wrong signal when it comes to handling a case.

The customer behaves like a consumer of the notary's services and

and there is every reason to believe that the clerk's work will not be made any easier.

This is just one of many incivilities that can now be dealt with

with Legal Design 😀

PS: The hammer and chisel aren't necessary even if sometimes, let's face it,

the urge is there...
